After a busy weekend of not-doing-very-much, I’m back in the store today putting up the Araucania Ranco. There are three variegated colourways and three semi-solids.
I used some of the green colourway to knit a pair of socks for Mum (in the previous blog post), and there was enough left over to knit a border on to the edge of her feather-and-fan shawl. It’s a gorgeous shawl, too. I indulged my love of sock yarn with four different types. The bright yellow-green-pink mix is Springtime by Yarnivorous. Then there’s a section of Warm Pinks by The Knittery. The body of the shawl is finished off with a skein of Cherry Tree Hill’s Supersock Potluck from the Water colour family. And the edging is Araucania Ranco. All of the yarns are wonderful and they work so well together.
(Yarnomat doesn’t currently stock Yarnivorous or Knittery yarns, by the way. But if you must buy sock yarn from someone other than me, I recommend them!)
The shawl is the Feather and Fan Comfort Shawl by Sarah Bradberry. It was as comforting to knit as it will be to wear. There’s a lovely rhythm to the pattern and I adore the way the fabric pulls into rippling waves.
