I’m encouraging my Mum, Joan, to try knitting socks from the top-down. Not that there’s anything wrong with knitting from the toe up! But it’s good to have another method in your repertoire, and I find the heel flap construction neater and easier than a toe-up short-row [...] After a busy weekend of not-doing-very-much, I’m back in the store today putting up the Araucania Ranco. There are three variegated colourways and three semi-solids. I used some of the green colourway to knit a pair of socks for Mum (in the previous blog post), and there was enough left over to knit a border on [...] Five colourways of Noro Kureyon Sock are now available. Eventually I hope to carry all 12 colourways, plus the Noro Silk Garden Sock when that becomes available. But just starting with five for now. Twenty-two Cherry Tree Hill Supersock Potluck hanks are on the store as well. I adore most of those colourways, and will probably [...] Another big photo session today and now all the colourways of all the yarns are on the store. Woot! Well, except for the Supersock Potluck colourways, but I’m not counting them because they’re one-of-a-kind and I won’t be restocking them after this initial batch is sold. They are gorgeous, but each hank has to be photographed [...] The first batch of Panda Silk is up on the Yarnomat store, and I love it even more after a day of photographing it, holding it and considering its shimmery loveliness. My favourite of the batch is Berry Tones — just love that raspberry thread running through the lighter pinks. But I’m also in love [...] The postman just arrived with a big box of Panda Silk. What a texture! It’s a bamboo silk mix and I can tell it’s going to be one of my new favourite sock yarns. It’d be stunning in a lacy shawl or wrap, too. It’s not on the store yet, but I’ll photograph and upload [...] New today: 9 more colourways of Panda Cotton, including the fiery warm Red Cinnamon. I am intrigued by the curly texture of the yarn. Some people have said that it can be splitty to knit with, but I don’t mind working with a splitty yarn if the resulting fabric is worthwhile. This Panda Cotton feels [...] We finally have all 33 hand-painted colourways and 25 dyed solids of Cherry Tree Hill Supersock on the Yarnomat site. A handful have already sold out, but I’ll be ordering more of those on the next order from Cherry Tree Hill.
